Training Journey

Owner-training your service dog is highly individualized.
Training your service dog requires commitment. At Your Service Dog Training, LLC will always be right by your side every step of the way to mentor, coach, problem-solve and advocate for each Service Dog Team.
The bond between an owner and the service dog in training is strong. This bond creates a powerful sense of trust and understanding. The bond allows the dog to anticipate and respond to the owner's needs.
Our program is reward based. No prong collars, choke collar, e-collars or gentle leaders are allowed. Reward based training is essential to the development of a service dog's ability to make good decisions on their own and respond to their partner's needs.

Each dog will progresses at its own pace
as it masters obedience, public access and
task training.
Training sessions are conducted weekly on a one-on-one basis, in a group class
when appropriate, and in public. Distance clients may train via zoom. Each training session is one hour.
Each service dog will be trained to perform 3 tasks to offset the owner's disability.
Each team is expected to train apart from the scheduled weekly training sessions.
If you do not work with your dog it shows.
The service dog team will be in training for 18-24 months, depending on the age of the dog and the skill set needed.
At Your Service Dog Training, LLC requires that owner-trainer teams train (applicable to those training dogs over 12-18 months old) with AYST for a minimum of 8 months prior to the public access test.
Each team must pass a public access test.
Post-graduation follow-up: to ensure the team continues to thrive:
* Monthly for the first six months;
* Then every 3 months for the remainder of the first year;
* Public Access Test annually; and
* Follow-up training as needed either in person or via the internet.
Fees will apply.
